Extra-Eu foreign trade

Istat presents preliminary data on Italy’s foreign trade with non-EU countries in January 2011. The results of the survey on total foreign trade in January 2010 will be disseminated on coming 18 March.

In January 2011, exports to non-EU countries increased by 34.9% and imports by 46.2% compared with the same month of the previous year. The trade balance showed a deficit of 5,799 million euro compared with a 3,351 million euro deficit in the same month of 2010.

In January 2011, in seasonally-adjusted terms, exports increased by 8.7% and imports increased by 4.4% compared with December 2010. Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data showed a 6.4% increase in outgoing flows and a 9.9% increase in incoming flows in comparison with the previous three months.
