Extra-Eu foreign trade
Istat presents preliminary data on Italy’s foreign trade with non-EU countries in October 2013. The results of the survey on total foreign trade in October 2013 will be disseminated on coming 16 December.
In October 2013, exports to non-EU countries increased by 1.5% and imports decreased by 8.0% compared with the same month of the previous year. The trade balance showed a surplus of 2,899 million euro compared with a 1,430 million euro surplus in the same month of 2012.
In October 2013, in seasonally-adjusted terms, exports increased by 0.8% and imports decreased by 1.3% compared with September 2013. Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data showed a 0.6% decrease in outgoing flows and a 0.7% increase in incoming flows in comparison with the previous three months.
In the period January-October 2013 exports to non-EU countries increased by 2.0% and imports decreased by 10.1% compared with the same period of 2012. The trade balance registered a surplus of 14,204 million euro compared to the deficit of 4,065 million euro in the same period of 2012. Excluding energy, the trade balance presented a surplus of 56,725 million euro compared with a 49,273 million euro surplus in January-October 2012.
