Extra-Eu foreign trade
Istat presents preliminary data on Italy’s foreign trade with non-EU countries in November 2011. The results of the survey on total foreign trade in November 2011 will be disseminated on coming 18 January.
In November 2011, exports to non-EU countries increased by 11.2% and imports by 3.9% compared with the same month of the previous year. The trade balance showed a deficit of 1,198 million euro (Table 1) compared with a 2,062 million euro deficit in the same month of 2010.
In November 2011, in seasonally-adjusted terms, exports increased by 3.1% and imports increased by 0.5% compared with October 2011. Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data showed a 1.4% increase in outgoing flows and a 0.8% decrease in incoming flows in comparison with the previous three months.
In the period January-November 2011 exports to non-EU countries increased by 15.2% and imports by 15.1% compared with the same period of 2010. The trade balance registered a deficit of 23,613 million euro compared to the deficit of 20,617 million euro in the same period of 2010. Excluding energy, the trade balance presented a surplus of 32,383 million euro (Table 3) compared with a 26,754 million euro surplus in January-November 2010.
