Extra-Eu foreign trade
Istat presents preliminary data on Italy’s foreign trade with non-EU countries in June 2013. The results of the survey on total foreign trade in June 2013 will be disseminated on coming 9 August.
In June 2013, exports to non-EU countries decreased by 2.9% and imports decreased by 8.7% compared with the same month of the previous year. The trade balance showed a surplus of 2,452 million euro compared with a 1,663 million euro surplus in the same month of 2012.
In June 2013, in seasonally-adjusted terms, exports decreased by 1.9% and imports increased by 2.5% compared with May 2013. Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data showed a 0.1% increase in outgoing flows and a 3.4% decrease in incoming flows in comparison with the previous three months.
In the first half of 2013 exports to non-EU countries increased by 2.9% and imports decreased by 11.3% compared with the same period of 2012. The trade balance registered a surplus of 7,978 million euro compared to the deficit of 5,086 million euro in the same period of 2012. Excluding energy, the trade balance presented a surplus of 33,510 million euro (Table 3) compared with a 27,203 million euro surplus in January-June 2012.
