Extra-Eu foreign trade
Istat presents preliminary data on Italy’s foreign trade with non-EU countries in July 2013. The results of the survey on total foreign trade in July 2013 will be disseminated on coming 16 September.
In July 2013, exports to non-EU countries increased by 3.5% and imports decreased by 1.9% compared with the same month of the previous year. The trade balance showed a surplus of 2,797 million euro compared with a 1,898 million euro surplus in the same month of 2012.
In July 2013, in seasonally-adjusted terms, exports decreased by 2.0% and imports increased by 1.6% compared with June 2013. Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data showed a 1.3% increase in outgoing flows and a 0.2% increase in incoming flows in comparison with the previous three months.
In the period January-July 2013 exports to non-EU countries increased by 3.2% and imports decreased by 10.0% compared with the same period of 2012. The trade balance registered a surplus of 10,499 million euro compared to the deficit of 3,639 million euro in the same period of 2012. Excluding energy, the trade balance presented a surplus of 40,635 million euro compared with a 33,524 million euro surplus in January-July 2012.
