Foreign trade with non-EU countries

Istat presents preliminary data on Italy’s foreign trade with non-EU countries in November 2019. The results of the survey on total foreign trade in November 2019 will be disseminated on coming 17 January 2020.

In November 2019 exports to non-EU countries decreased by 3.8% and imports decreased by 10.7% compared with the same month of the previous year.

The trade balance showed a surplus of 4,164 million euro compared with a 3,253 million euro surplus in the same month of 2018.

In November 2019, in seasonally adjusted terms, exports decreased by 8.1% and imports decreased by 0.9% compared with October 2019. Over the last three months, seasonally adjusted data showed a 2.6% increase in outgoing flows and a 1.5% decrease in incoming flows in comparison with the previous three months.

In the period January-November 2019 exports to non-EU countries increased by 3.6% and imports decreased by 1.4% compared with the same period of 2018.

In January to November 2019 the trade balance registered a surplus of 31,838 million euro compared to the surplus of 22,812 million euro in the same period of 2018; excluding energy, the surplus was equal to 66,681 million euro, up compared with a 61,400 million euro surplus in January-November 2018.
