Foreign trade with non-EU countries
Istat presents preliminary data on Italy’s foreign trade with non-EU countries in January 2020. The results of the survey on total foreign trade in January 2020 will be disseminated on coming 18 March 2020.
In January 2020 exports to non-EU countries increased by 4.4% and imports increased by 2.3% compared with the same month of the previous year.
The trade balance showed a deficit of 280 million euro compared with a 586 million euro deficit in the same month of 2019.
In January 2020, in seasonally adjusted terms, exports increased by 5.4% and imports increased by 7.2% compared with December 2019. Over the last three months, seasonally adjusted data showed a 2.7% decrease in outgoing flows and a 1.7% decrease in incoming flows in comparison with the previous three months.
In January 2020 excluding energy, the trade balance showed a surplus of 3,319 million euro compared to the surplus of 2,719 million euro of January 2019.
