Foreign trade with non-EU countries
Istat presents preliminary data on Italy’s foreign trade with non-EU countries in January 2019. The results of the survey on total foreign trade in January 2019 will be disseminated on coming 19 March 2019.
In January 2019 exports to non-EU countries increased by 5.5% and imports increased by 5.6% compared with the same month of the previous year.
In January 2019, in seasonally-adjusted terms, exports increased by 5.9% and imports decreased by 2.6% compared with December 2018. Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data showed a 1.3% increased in outgoing flows and a 2.8% decreased in incoming flows in comparison with the previous three months.
The trade balance registered a deficit of 578 million euro compared with 526 million euro of deficit in the same period of 2018. Excluding energy, the trade balance presented a surplus of 2,726 million euro (Table 2) compared with a 2,449 million euro surplus in January 2018.
