Foreign trade with non-EU countries
Istat presents preliminary data on Italy’s foreign trade with non-EU countries in February 2019. The results of the survey on total foreign trade in February 2019 will be disseminated on coming 17 April 2019.
In February 2019 exports to non-EU countries increased by 6.1% and imports increased by 5.6% compared with the same month of the previous year.
The trade balance showed a surplus of 2,162 million euro compared with a 1,975 million euro surplus in the same month of 2018.
In February 2019, in seasonally-adjusted terms, exports decreased by 2.2% and imports decreased by 0.1% compared with January 2019. Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data showed a 0.6% decreased in outgoing flows and a 5.2% decreased in incoming flows in comparison with the previous three months.
In the period January-February 2019 exports to non-EU countries increased by 5.7% and imports increased by 5.6% compared with the same period of 2018.
The trade balance registered a surplus of 1,577 million euro compared to the surplus of 1,449 million euro in the same period of 2018. Excluding energy, the trade balance presented a surplus of 7,928 million euro compared with a 7,411 million euro surplus in January-February 2018.
