Foreign trade

Istat presents data on Italy’s foreign trade as well as unit value and volume indices (base year 2010=100) referring to October 2013. The results of the flash estimates on extra-EU trade for October 2013 have been disseminated on November 25th.

  • In October 2013 seasonally-adjusted data, compared to September 2013, showed a decrease for outgoing flows (-0.5%) and for incoming flows (-2.6%). The fall in exports is the synthesis  of export growth for non EU countries (+0.8%) and a decrease for EU countries (-1.5%). As regards imports decreased for both areas: -3.6% for EU countries and -1.3% for non EU countries. Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data, in comparison with the previous three months, showed an increase for both flows: +0.6% for exports and +1.2% for imports.
  • In October 2013, compared with the same month of the previous year, trade increased by 0.8% for exports (+0.2% for EU area and +1.5% for non EU countries) and fell by 4.3% for imports (-1.2% for EU and -8.0% for non EU countries). The trade balance (January-October 2013) amounted to 23.7 billion euro (9.5 billion euro for EU area and 14.2 billion euro for non EU countries).
