Foreign trade

Istat presents data on Italy’s foreign trade as well as unit value and volume indices (base year 2010=100) referring to May 2015. The results of the flash estimates on extra-EU trade for May 2015 have been disseminated on June 24th.

  • In May 2015 seasonally-adjusted data, compared to April 2015, increased by 1.5% for outgoing flows and decreased by 0.3% for incoming flows. Exports increased for both areas: +2.5% for EU countries and +0.4% for non EU countries. The decrease of imports is the result of an increase for EU countries (+0.8%) and a decrease for non EU countries (-1.9%). During last three months, seasonally-adjusted data, in comparison with the previous quarter, showed a growth of 2.7% for exports and 5.1% for imports.
  • In May 2015, compared with the same month of the previous year, trade increased for exports (+2.0%) and imports (+0.5%). Outgoing flows increased by 3.5% for EU countries and 0.3% for non EU countries. Incoming flows increased by 3.3% for EU area while decreased by 3.1% for non EU area. The trade balance in May amounted to +4.2 billion Euros (+1.3 billion Euros for EU area and +2.9 billion Euros for non EU countries).
