Foreign Trade

Istat presents data on Italy’s foreign trade as well as unit value and volume indices (base year 2010=100) referring to May 2013. The results of the flash estimates on extra-EU trade for May 2013 have been disseminated on June 24th.

  • In May 2013 seasonally-adjusted data, compared to April 2013, showed an increase for exports (+0.6) and a decrease of 0.9% for imports. The increase, for exports, was the synthesis of an increase of 3.2% for non EU countries and  a decrease of 1.8% for EU countries. As regards imports the fall was recorded for both: -0.5% for EU and -1.6% for non EU markets. Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data, in comparison with the previous three months, showed a fall of 0.5% for outgoing flows and a drop of 3.1% for incoming flows.
  • In May 2013, compared with the same month of the previous year, trade decreased by 1.5% for exports (-3.4% for EU area and +0.7% for non EU countries) and decreased by 10.3% for imports (-5.5% for EU and -15.8% for non EU countries). The trade balance amounted to 3.9 billion Euro (0.9 billion Euro for EU area and 3.0 billion Euro for non EU countries).
