Foreign trade

Istat presents data on Italy’s foreign trade as well as unit value and volume indices (base year 2010=100) referring to August 2015. The results of the flash estimates on extra-EU trade for August 2015 have been disseminated on September 24th.

• In August 2015 seasonally-adjusted data, compared to July 2015, decreased by 3.6% for outgoing flows and by 2.6% for incoming flows. Exports increased for EU countries (+0.2%) while decreased for non EU countries (-8.2%). The fall of imports is due to a decrease for both areas: -2.6% for EU countries and -2.7% for non EU countries. During the last quarter, seasonally-adjusted data, in comparison with the previous quarter, showed a fall of 1.6% for exports and a growth of 0.3% for imports.

• In August 2015, compared with the same month of the previous year, trade increased for exports (+1.0%) and for imports (+2.1%). Outgoing flows increased by 5.6% for EU countries and decreased by 3.6% for non EU countries. Incoming flows increased by 4.7% for EU area while decreased by 0.9% for non EU area. The trade balance in August amounted to +1.9 billion Euros (+0.5 billion Euros for EU area and +1.4 billion Euros for non EU countries).
