Foreign trade and import prices - September 2021

In September 2021 seasonally-adjusted data, compared to August 2021, decreased by -1.3% for outgoing flows and by -1.7% for incoming flows. Exports dropped by -1.5% for EU countries and by -1.0% for non EU countries. Imports decreased by -3.5% for EU countries and increased by +0.6% for non EU countries.

Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data, compared to the previous three months, increased by +2.8% for exports and by +5.5% for imports.

In September 2021, compared with the same month of the previous year, both exports and imports grew (+10.3% and +22.5% respectively). Outgoing flows increased by +15.0% for EU countries and by +5.2% for non EU countries. Incoming flows rose by +15.7% for EU area and by +32.5% for non EU area. The trade balance in September 2021 amounted to +2,454 million Euros (762 million Euros for EU countries and +1,692 million Euros for non EU countries).

In September 2021, import prices increased by 0.8% on monthly basis (+0.6% for the euro zone, +1.0% for the non-euro zone). Over the last three months, compared to the previous three months, import prices increased by 3.3% (+2.0% for the euro zone, +4.6% for the non-euro zone).

Import prices, compared to the same month a year ago, increased by 12.3% in September 2021 (+8.2% for the euro zone and +16.2% for the non-euro zone).

2020 data on foreign trade have been revised and made final. The online database has been updated as regards raw data, seasonally adjusted series and indices.
