Foreign trade and import prices
In September 2019 seasonally-adjusted data, compared to August 2019 increased for outgoing flows (+1,2%) and decreased for incoming flows (-0.2%). Exports rose for both non EU countries (+2.5%) and EU countries (+0.3%). Imports increased by +1.9% for non EU countries and decreased by -1.6% for EU countries.
Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data, compared to the previous three months, dropped either for exports (-0.7%) and for imports (-0.2%).
In September 2019, compared with the same month of the previous year, both exports and imports increased (+6.2% and +2.1% respectively). Outgoing flows rose by 9.5% for non EU countries and by 4.0% for EU countries. Incoming flows increased for EU area (+4.5%) and fell for non EU area (-1.2%). The trade balance in September 2019 amounted to +2,779 million Euros (+1,524 million Euros for non EU area and +1,255 million Euros for EU countries).
In September 2019, the total import prices index remain unchanged compared to the previous month (increased by 0.1% for the euro zone, decreased by 0.1 for the non-euro zone); the total twelve-month rate of change decreased by 2.7% (increased by 0.2% for the euro zone and decreased by 5.3% for the non-euro zone).
The quarterly total index of import prices decreased by 1.3% compared to the previous period (unchanged for the euro zone and decreased by 2.3% for the non-euro zone).
