Foreign trade and import prices

Istat presents data on Italy’s foreign trade as well as unit value and volume indices (base year 2015=100) referring to August 2018.

In August 2018 seasonally-adjusted data, compared to July 2018, increased for outgoing flows (+2.9%) and for incoming flows and (+0.4%). Exports grew for both non EU and EU countries (+3.6% and +2.4% respectively). Imports raised for EU countries (+1.3%) and decreased for non EU countries (-0.7%). Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data, compared to the three months earlier, showed an increase for exports (+3.2%) and for imports (+3.0%).

In August 2018, compared with the same month of the previous year, both exports (+5.1%) and import (+6.4%) increased. Outgoing flows raised by 5.7% for EU countries and for 4.4% for non EU countries. Incoming flows increased by 12.3% for non EU area and by 2.0% for EU area. The trade balance in August 2018 amounted to +2,564 million Euros (+1,747 million Euros for non EU area and +817 million Euros for EU countries).
