Foreign trade and import prices

In April 2021 seasonally-adjusted data, compared to March 2021, increased by +3.4% for outgoing flows and by +1.9% for incoming flows. Exports rose for non-EU countries (+7.4%) and slightly decreased for non-EU countries (-0.2%). Imports increased by +5.0% for non-EU countries and decreased by -0.3% for EU countries.

Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data, compared to the previous three months, increased by +4.2% for exports and by +7.6% for imports.

In April 2021, compared with the same month of the previous year, both exports and imports grew (+97.6% and +62.8% respectively). Outgoing flows increased by +91.5% for EU countries and by +104.6% for non-EU countries. Incoming flows rose by +69.2% for EU area and by +54.9% for non EU area. The trade balance in April 2021 amounted to +5,870 million Euros (+1,012 million Euros for EU countries and +4,858 million Euros for non EU countries).

In April 2021, import prices increased by 0.9% on monthly basis (+1.4% for the euro zone, +0.5% for the non-euro zone). Over the last three months, compared to the previous three months, import prices increased by 3.5% (+2.3% for the euro zone, +4.8% for the non-euro zone).

Import prices, compared to the same month a year ago, increased by 8.3% in April 2021 (+4.8% for the euro zone and +12.0% for the non-euro zone).
