Foreign trade and import prices - October 2024
In October 2024, seasonally-adjusted data, compared to September 2024, decreased both for exports (-1.9%) and for imports (-0.3%). Exports declined by -0.7% for EU countries and dropped by -3.2% for non-EU countries. Imports decreased by -1.4% for EU countries while rose by +1.2% for non-EU countries.
Over the last quarter, seasonally-adjusted data, compared to the previous one, increased for both exports (+0.6%) and imports (+1.1%).
In October 2024, compared to the same month of the previous year, exports rose by +1.6% and imports by +0.4%. Outgoing flows increased for EU countries (+3.7%) while decreased for non-EU countries (-0.7%).
Incoming flows increased by +3.9% for the EU area and dropped by -4.0% for the extra-EU area.
In October 2024, trade balance registered a surplus of +5,153 million Euros (-660 million Euros deficit for EU countries and +5,813 million Euros surplus for non-EU countries). Excluding energy, trade balance surplus amounted to +9,860 million Euros.
In October 2024, import prices decreased by 0.1% on monthly basis (-0.2% for the euro zone, -0.1% for the non-euro zone). Over the last three months, compared to the previous three months, import prices decreased by 0.7% (-0.4% for the euro zone, -1.1% for the non-euro zone).
Import prices, compared to the same month a year ago, declined by 1.5% (-0.3% for the euro zone, -2.8% for the non-euro zone).
