Foreign trade and import prices - May 2025
In May 2025, seasonally adjusted data, compared to April 2025, decreased both for exports (-2.3%) and imports (-4.1%). Exports declined by -3.1% for non-EU countries and by -1.7% for EU countries. Imports fell by -7.5% for non-EU countries and by -1.3% for EU countries.
Over the last quarter, seasonally-adjusted data, compared to the previous one, declined for both exports (-1.2%) and imports (-0.7%).
In May 2025, compared to the same month of the previous year, exports decreased by -1.9% and imports by -1.7%. Outgoing flows dropped for non-EU countries (-4.6%) but slightly rose for EU countries (+0.7%). Incoming flows decreased by -3.4% for non-EU area and by -0.4% for EU area.
In May 2025, trade balance registered a surplus of +6,163 million Euros (+776 million euros surplus for EU countries and +5,387 million euros surplus for non-EU countries). Excluding energy, trade balance surplus amounted to +9,621 million Euros.
In May 2025, import prices decreased by 1.4% on monthly basis (-0.3% for the euro zone, -2,3% for the non-euro zone). Over the last three months, compared to the previous three months, import prices decreased by 1.7% (-0.8% for the euro zone, -2,5% for the non-euro zone).
Import prices, compared to the same month a year ago, decreased by 3.0% (-2.1% for the euro zone, -3.7% for the non-euro zone).
