Foreign trade and import prices
In July 2020 seasonally-adjusted data, compared to June 2020, rose by +5.7% for outgoing flows and by +4.8% for incoming flows. Exports grew for both EU countries (+3.9%) and non EU countries (+7.6%). Imports increased by +5.9% for EU countries and by +3.3% for non EU countries.
Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data, compared to the previous three months, increased for exports (+4.4%) and dropped for imports (-2.3%).
In July 2020, compared with the same month of the previous year, both exports and imports fell (-7.3% and -14.2% respectively). Outgoing flows decreased by -6.4% for EU countries and by -8.1% for non EU countries. Incoming flows dropped by -11.5% for EU area and by -17.5% for non EU area. The trade balance in July 2020 amounted to +9,694 million Euros (+3,007 million Euros for EU countries and +6,686 million Euros for non EU countries).
In July 2020 import prices increased by 0.2% on monthly basis (+0.3% for the non-euro zone, 0.0% for the euro zone). Over the last three months, compared to the previous three months, import prices decreased by 2.3% (-1.1% for the euro zone and -3.3% for the non-euro zone).
Import prices decreased by 6.4% in June 2020, compared to the same month a year ago (-2.1% for the euro zone and -10.4% for the non-euro zone).
