Extra-Eu foreign trade

Istat presents preliminary data on Italy’s foreign trade with non-EU countries in January 2016. The results of the survey on total foreign trade in January 2016 will be disseminated on coming 17 March.

In January 2016 exports to non-EU countries decreased by 7.9% and imports decreased by 6.5% compared with the same month of the previous year. The trade balance showed a deficit of 495 million euro (Table 1) compared with a 344 million euro deficit in the same month of 2015.

In January 2016, in seasonally-adjusted terms, exports decreased by 6.2% and imports decreased by 3.6% compared with December 2015. Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data showed a 2.5% increase in outgoing flows and a 2.3% decrease in incoming flows in comparison with the previous three months.
