Extra-Eu foreign trade
Istat presents preliminary data on Italy’s foreign trade with non-EU countries in December 2015. The results of the survey on total foreign trade in December 2015 will be disseminated on coming 16 February.
In December 2015, exports to non-EU countries increased by 4.1% and imports increased by 0.3% compared with the same month of the previous year. The trade balance showed a surplus of 5,912 million euro (Table 1) compared with a 5,263 million euro surplus in the same month of 2014.
In December 2015, in seasonally-adjusted terms, exports increased by 0.9% and imports decreased by 2.9% compared with November 2015. Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data showed a 1.6% increase in outgoing flows and a 0.6% decrease in incoming flows in comparison with the previous three months.
In 2015 exports to non-EU countries increased by 3.6% and imports decreased by 0.1% compared with 2014. The trade balance registered a surplus of 33,658 million euro compared to the surplus of 26,998 million euro in 2014. Excluding energy, the trade balance presented a surplus of 64,379 million euro (Table 3) compared with a 67,246 million euro surplus in 2014.
