Employment and unemployment (provisional estimates) - November 2025
In November 2025 the number of both employed and unemployed people decreased, while inactive people increased.
On a monthly basis, employment fell (-0.1%, -34 thousand) for women and for those aged 15-24 and 35-49; employment grew in the 25-34 age bracket, while for men and those aged 50+ it was substantially unchanged. Overall, the employment rate declined at 62.6% (-0.1 p.p.).
In the last month, the drop in the number of unemployed people (-2.0%, -30 thousand) affected men, women and all age groups except those aged 25-34. The unemployment rate fell to 5.7% (-0.1 p.p.), the youth rate to 18.8% (-0.8 p.p.).
In November, the rise in the number of inactive people aged 15-64 affected both genders and all age groups except those aged 25-34, for whom it decreased. The inactivity rate climbed at 33.5% (+0.2 p.p.).
In the quarter September-November 2025, with respect to the previous one (June-August 2025), employment grew (+0.3%, +66 thousand).
On a quarterly basis, a drop was registered in the number of unemployed persons (-3.1%, -48 thousand) while the number of inactive people aged 15-64 remained substantially unchanged.
Compared with November 2024, the number of employed persons increased by 0.7% (+179 thousand); the growth affected both sexes and those in the 25-34 and 50+ age groups, while employment decreased in the other age groups. Over the year, the employment rate showed a rise of 0.3 p.p. .
On a yearly basis, the increase in the number of employed people was accompanied by a decrease in the number of both unemployed people (-6.7%, -106 thousand) and inactive people aged 15-64 (-0.3%, -35 thousand).
