Consumer prices - June 2026
Final data
In June 2026 the Italian consumer price index for the whole nation (NIC) was null compared with the previous month and +3.0% on annual basis (down from +3.2% in the previous month), confirming the flash estimate.
The slight slowdown in inflation reflects the price dynamics of Unprocessed food (from +5.5% to +4.4%), of Services related to recreation, including repair and personal care (from +3.0% to +2.7%), and Services related to transport (from +1.7% to +1.1%). By contrast, prices for Energy products accelerated, both Regulated energy products (from +5.6% to +9.2%) and Non-regulated energy products (from +12.5% to +13.3%).
As for Goods, the year on year growth rate was +3.3% (down from 3.4%) and for Services the annual rate of change was +2.6% (down from +2.8%). As a consequence, the inflationary gap between Services and Goods was -0.7 percentage points (from -0.6 p.p.).
The zero increase on monthly basis was mainly due to the prices of Unprocessed food (-1.5%); on the other hand, prices of Services related to recreation, including repair and personal care (+0.6%) and of Services related to transport (+0.5%) increased.
In June 2026 the Italian harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) recorded a zero month-on-month change and a year-on-year increase of +3.0% (from +3.2% in the previous month); the flash estimate was +3.1%.
In the second quarter of 2026, inflation measured by the HICP, showed higher increases for households with lower spending capacity and smaller increases for those with higher level of equivalent expenditure (+3.7% and +2.6% respectively).
