Building permits indicators

Residential construction units fell in the fourth quarter 2018 when compared with the previous quarter (-5.1% for the number of dwellings and -6.7% for useful floor area).

For the third consecutive quarter, non-residential buildings contracted by 11.9% in the fourth quarter 2018 (quarter on previous quarter).

The number of dwellings in new buildings grew by 5.6% in the fourth quarter 2018 against the same quarter a year earlier.

In comparison with the same quarter a year ago, the useful floor area was up 3.2%.

Non-residential area continue to increase year-on-year, rising by 7.6% in the fourth quarter 2018, sustaining the strong performance of late.
