Fifteenth Italian Statistics Day
The fifteenth edition of Italian Statistics Day (GIS), endorsed by the National Institute of Statistics (Istat) and the Italian Statistical Society (SIS), is celebrated on Monday 20 October 2025. This year, the initiative coincides with the Fourth World Statistics Day, promoted by the United Nations, and also supported by Eurostat and the European institutions.
The motto for the current edition is: “Quality Statistics and Data for Everyone”, highlighting the importance of quality official statistics available to all members of society, an essential tool for informed, data-based decisions, both for the present and for the future. The United Nations Statistics Division and the Regional Commissions organise online events covering the whole day, with stories and testimonials of innovations. Eurostat focuses on technological innovation, AI, countering disinformation, and the availability of data for all to support decisions, with webinars, podcasts, and the publication Key figures on the EU in the world.
GIS 2025 confirms itself as an opportunity to enhance the work carried out to increase trust in official statistics. Initiatives and projects for statistical dissemination aimed at making the approach to quantitative information easier for everyone are promoted through several activities via institutional communication channels at the national level and through local meetings.
