Challenges in the Measurement of Nature in Official Statistics
Measurement and communication challenges in ecosystem accounting
The workshop aims to advance official statistical information on ecosystems and their economic importance, in accordance with the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics. The workshop is divided into four sessions dealing with:
- Ecosystems mapping and conditions in a nature restoration perspective and territorial statistics for ecosystem services modelling;
- the multiple monetary values connected to ecosystems and their services, explored from a non-pricing perspective;
- the value of biophysical and territorial information and of the “connected monetary values” approach within a Beyond GDP framework;
- methodological and communication aspects, addressed in a concluding round table discussion.
The Call for Contributions launched as part of the workshop is closed.
