Environmental taxes in Italy

Istat releases the 1990-2010 time series on environmental tax revenue in Italy.

Consistently with the international guidelines on environmental taxes, Istat applies the following definition of environmental tax: a tax whose tax base is a physical unit (or a proxy of it) of something that has a proven, specific negative impact on the environment’.

Environmental tax revenue is classified by category, by environmental sector and by use (earmarked or not).
Data are consistent with the ‘General Government aggregates and Accounts’ released on December the 2nd 2011.

The Tables also include environmental tax revenue data in Eu countries.
