Production in the construction sector - May 2023

In May 2023, estimates for construction output decreased in the month-on-month series, falling by 0.7%.

In the three months to May 2023, the seasonally adjusted index of production in construction dropped by 2.3% when compared with the previous three-month period.

Year on year, both the calendar adjusted index (calendar working days being 22 as in May 2022) and the unadjusted index were down 6.5%, falling for the fourth month in a row.

In the first five months of 2023, construction output declined by 2.8% in both the calendar adjusted series and in the unadjusted series.
