Foreign trade and import prices - September 2022

In September 2022 seasonally-adjusted data, compared to August 2022, increased by +1.6% for outgoing flows and decreased by -1.7% for incoming flows. Exports dropped by -2.2% for EU countries and grew by +6.0% for non-EU countries. Imports fell by -4.0% for EU countries and rose by +0.6% for non-EU countries.

Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data, compared to the previous three months, increased by +2.7% for exports and by +7.5% for imports.

In September 2022, compared with the same month of the previous year, both exports and imports grew (+21.6% and +40.4% respectively). Outgoing flows increased by +17.1% for EU countries and by +27.2% for non-EU countries. Incoming flows rose by +25.2% for EU area and by +59.0% for non-EU area. The trade balance in September 2022 amounted to -6,454 million Euros (-1,023 million Euros for EU countries and -5,431 million Euros for non-EU countries).

In September 2022, import prices increased by 0.1% on monthly basis (+0.1% for both zones, euro and non-euro). Over the last three months, compared to the previous three months, import prices increased by 3.4% (+1.8% for the euro zone, +4.9% for the non-euro zone).

Import prices, compared to the same month a year ago, increased by 20.3% in September 2022 (+10.5% for the euro zone and +29.9% for the non-euro zone).

2021 data on foreign trade have been revised and made final. At the same time, data for the first three months of 2022 were also revised. The online database www.coeweb.istat.it has been updated as regards raw data, seasonally adjusted series and indices.
