With a new layout, an advanced search archive and a navigation mode by thematic areas, from Monday 23 April 2018 the new Istat website is online, to ensure greater ease of access and better usability of statistical information.

The site, made entirely from resources within the Institute, provides navigation no longer by type of support but by themes – population, economic conditions, culture, prices, services… – within which the information is organised in “Analysis and products” (press releases and publications), “Data and indicators” (macro and micro-data), “Classifications and metadata”, making it easier for users to find the information they are looking for.

Among the main innovations, the archive search allows you to filter all the news by type of document, by topic, by region and also by tag.

The new site applies responsive web design, adapting optimally to the device with which it is displayed (smartphone, tablet, netbook, and desktop).

Furthermore, the social dimension and the sharing of contents are favored by the integration with Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and LinkedIn in all the pages. In the same way, the form to leave feedback is available everywhere.

On the occasion of the new site release, an area dedicated to the Research activities at Istat has been created, which testifies to the strategy of full use of the information potential of the statistical production, and one area for the Experimental statistics, where the experimentations on the use of new sources and the application of innovative methods are documented.

The implementation of the search engine with open source technology is still underway, it will be more easily customized with respect to the evolution of users’ information needs.

The import of all contents will be completed in the next few hours. Some malfunctions will be possible, at least in the first days. For reports and technical problems, you can contact webmaster@istat.it.
