Foreign trade with non-EU countries

Istat presents preliminary data on Italy’s foreign trade with non-EU countries in June 2017. The results of the survey on total foreign trade in June 2017 will be disseminated on coming 10 August.

In June 2017 exports to non-EU countries increased by 8.2% and imports increased by 12.0% compared with the same month of the previous year. The trade balance showed a surplus of 3,278 million euro compared with a 3,460 million euro surplus in the same month of 2016.

In June 2017, in seasonally-adjusted terms, exports decreased by 1.6% and imports decreased by 5.3% compared with May 2017. Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data showed a 1.5% decreased in outgoing flows and a 0.1% increased in incoming flows in comparison with the previous three months.

In the period January-June 2017 exports to non-EU countries increased by 9.1% and imports increased by 15.3% compared with the same period of 2016. The trade balance
registered a surplus of 13,475 million euro compared to the surplus of 16,472 million euro in the same period of 2016. Excluding energy, the trade balance presented a surplus of 30,347 million euro (Table 3) compared with a 28,395 million euro surplus in January-June 2016.
