Retail trade - February 2025
In February 2025, the seasonally adjusted index for retail trade increased by 0.1% in value terms and remained unchanged in volume terms when compared to the previous month.
In the three months to February 2025, the value of retail sales was up 0.1%, while sales volume contracted by 0.3%, when compared to the previous three-month period.
On a year-on-year basis, the value of retail trade dropped by 1.5%, while volume decreased by 2.5%.
In February 2025, large-scale distribution saw a year-on-year fall of 0.5%, small-scale distribution was down 2.4% and non-store retail sales declined by 2.2%. Online sales was down 1.9% when compared to February 2024, this is the second consecutive fall.
The non-food product category recorded predominantly negative results on a year-on-year basis. The most significant contraction was observed in Shoes, leather goods and travel items (-6.2%), followed by Optical instruments and photographic equipment (-4.8%). The only positive performance was recorded for Cosmetic and toilet articles, which grew by 1.7%.
