ISLP International Statistical Poster Competition 2024-2025

Istat and the Italian Statistical Society (SIS – Società Italiana di Statistica) sponsor, as for the previous editions, the International Statistical Poster Competition 2024-2025 as part of the International Statistical Literacy Project (ISLP)

The initiative is addressed to school and university students from around the world, with the aim to improve young people’s awareness of official statistics as a tool for learning about everyday reality.

Four categories of participants:

  • IV and V classes of primary schools (new category with separate instructions);
  • lower secondary schools;
  • upper secondary schools
  • universities (bachelor’s degrees).

The poster topic is “The 2030 Agenda.” All information on the competition, including in Italian, is available on the ISLP website and below:

Istat makes materials on monitoring the 2030 Agenda for Italy available in the dedicated section of the institutional website.

Registration opened on 18 September; the deadline to register has been extended to 24 December 2024, and  the deadline for poster submission is 22 January 2025.

National first-place winning posters will be displayed at the 65th ISI World Statistical Congress in The Hague from 5 to 9 October 2025.

In past editions, Italy ranked 2nd place in upper secondary school category with the poster “Are We Cultivating the Agriculture’s Future in Italy ” and 3rd place with lower secondary schools with the poster “Top 100 Most Streamed Songs Analysis” in the 2022/23 school year. In the 2018/19 school year, it took 1st place worldwide with the poster “The gap between reality and perception” created by the University of Turin.

In order to register their teams teachers should write to islp@istat.it providing:

  • school full name and address;
  • contact teacher’s first and last name;
  • e-mail and mobile no. of the contact teacher;
  • full first and last name of the students in the team(s) registered (1 to 5 students per team).

Each teacher may register more than one team from the same school.
