Retail trade - August 2022
In August 2022 estimates for seasonally adjusted index of value sales decreased by 0.4% in the month on month series, likewise volume fell by 1.1%.
In the three month to August 2022 value of sales grew by 1.1%, whereas volume of sales dropped by 0.7% when compared with the previous three-month period.
In August 2022 while value of retail trade continued to grow for the 18th month in a row in the year on year series gaining 4.3%, volume sales contracted by 2.1%.
In August 2022, when compared with the same month a year earlier, large-scale distribution was up 6.2%, small-scale distribution increased by 2.2% and non-store retail sales rose by 3.9%.
Online sales was up 3.7% in August 2022 when compared with August 2021.
Looking at the value of sales for non-food products, all sectors experienced growth besides Electric household appliances, audio-video equipment (-4.5%) and Optical instruments and photographic equipment (-0.3%). The largest increases were reported for Cosmetic and toilet articles (+6.7%) and Sporting equipment, games and toys (+4.9%).
