Extra-Eu foreign trade

Istat presents preliminary data on Italy’s foreign trade with non-EU countries in December 2014. The results of the survey on total foreign trade in December 2014 will be disseminated on coming 17 February.

In December 2014, exports to non-EU countries increased by 5.3% and imports decreased by 8.7% compared with the same month of the previous year. The trade balance showed a surplus of 5,253 million euro compared with a 3,355 million euro surplus in the same month of 2013.

In December 2014, in seasonally-adjusted terms, exports increased by 3.2% and imports decreased by 3.7% compared with November 2014. Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data showed a 1.8% increase in outgoing flows and a 0.9% decrease in incoming flows in comparison with the previous three months.

In 2014 exports to non-EU countries decreased by 0.1% and imports decreased by 5.4% compared with 2013. The trade balance registered a surplus of 28,060 million euro compared to the surplus of 19,570 million euro in 2013. Excluding energy, the trade balance presented a surplus of 67,237 million euro compared with a 70,160 million euro surplus in 2013.
