Extra-Eu foreign trade

Istat presents preliminary data on Italy’s foreign trade with non-EU countries in November 2014. The results of the survey on total foreign trade in November 2014 will be disseminated on coming 20 January.

In November 2014, exports to non-EU countries increased by 2.6% and imports increased by 0.1% compared with the same month of the previous year. The trade balance showed a surplus of 2,715 million euro (Table 1) compared with a 2,343 million euro surplus in the same month of 2013.

In November 2014, in seasonally-adjusted terms, exports decreased by 1.8% and imports increased by 1.9% compared with October 2014. Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data showed a 3.2% increase in outgoing flows and a 0.5% decrease in incoming flows in comparison with the previous three months.

In the period January-November 2014 exports to non-EU countries decreased by 0.6% and imports decreased by 5.1% compared with the same period of 2013. The trade balance registered a surplus of 22,795 million euro compared to the surplus of 16,214 million euro in the same period of 2013. Excluding energy, the trade balance presented a surplus of 59,486 million euro (Table 3) compared with a 62,914 million euro surplus in January-November 2013.
