Extra-Eu foreign trade
Istat presents preliminary data on Italy’s foreign trade with non-EU countries in October 2014. The results of the survey on total foreign trade in October 2014 will be disseminated on coming 16 December.
In October 2014, exports to non-EU countries increased by 0.8% and imports decreased by 7.8% compared with the same month of the previous year. The trade balance showed a surplus of 4,038 million euro (Table 1) compared with a 2,805 million euro surplus in the same month of 2013.
In October 2014, in seasonally-adjusted terms, exports and imports decreased by 1.2% compared with September 2014. Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data showed a 1.7% increase in outgoing flows and a 3.6% decrease in incoming flows in comparison with the previous three months.
In the period January-October 2014 exports to non-EU countries decreased by 0.9% and imports decreased by 5.5% compared with the same period of 2013. The trade balance registered a surplus of 20,094 million euro compared to the surplus of 13,872 million euro in the same period of 2013. Excluding energy, the trade balance presented a surplus of 53,853 million euro (Table 3) compared with a 56,733 million euro surplus in January-October 2013.
