Foreign trade

Istat presents data on Italy’s foreign trade as well as unit value and volume indices (base year 2010=100) referring to August 2014.

  • In August 2014 seasonally-adjusted data, compared to July, increased by 1.1% for outgoing flows and decreased by 0.4% for incoming flows. The growth in exports is due to the increase in sales to both areas: +1.3% for EU countries and +0.9% for non EU countries. Imports increased for EU countries (+2.0%) and decreased for non EU countries (-3.5%). Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data, in comparison with the previous three months, decreased by 0.4% for exports and increased by 1.4% for imports.
  • In August 2014, compared with the same month of the previous year, trade decreased by 2.7% for exports (-1.3% for EU area and -4.1% for non EU countries) and fell by 7.0% for imports (+0.1% for EU and -14.0% for non EU countries). The trade balance in August amounted to +2.1 billion Euro (+339 million Euro for EU area and +1717 million Euro for non EU countries).
