Extra-Eu foreign trade
Istat presents preliminary data on Italy’s foreign trade with non-EU countries in August 2014. The results of the survey on total foreign trade in August 2014 will be disseminated on coming 16 October.
In August 2014, exports to non-EU countries decreased by 4.1% and imports decreased by 14.1% compared with the same month of the previous year. The trade balance showed a surplus of 1,727 million euro compared with a 566 million euro surplus in the same month of 2013.
In August 2014, in seasonally-adjusted terms, exports increased by 0.9% and imports decreased by 3.6% compared with July 2014. Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data showed a 1.0% decrease in outgoing flows and a 0.2% decrease in incoming flows in comparison with the previous three months.
In the period January-August 2014 exports to non-EU countries decreased by 2.1% and imports decreased by 5.8% compared with the same period of 2013. The trade balance registered a surplus of 14,722 million euro compared to the surplus of 10,983 million euro in the same period of 2013. Excluding energy, the trade balance presented a surplus of 42,002 million euro compared with a 45,359 million euro surplus in January-August 2013.
