Foreign trade

Istat presents data on Italy’s foreign trade as well as unit value and volume indices (base year 2010=100) referring to April 2014. The results of the flash estimates on extra-EU trade for April 2014 have been disseminated on May 23rd.

  • In April 2014 seasonally-adjusted data, compared to March, increased by 0.4% for outgoing flows and decreased by 0.6% for incoming flows. The growth in exports is the synthesis of the increase in sales to EU countries (+0.9%) and the decrease to non EU countries (-0.2%). Imports decreased for EU countries (-1.4%) and increased for EU countries (+0.4%). Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data, in comparison with the previous three months, showed a fall for both flows: -0.7% for exports and -1.5% for imports.
  • In April 2014, compared with the same month of the previous year, trade increased by 2.0% for exports (+5.0% for EU area and -1.7% for non EU countries) and fell by 2.9% for imports (-2.6% for EU and -3.4% for non EU countries). The trade balance in April amounted to +3.5 billion Euro (+1,851 million Euro for EU area and +1,654 million Euro for non EU countries).
