Foreign trade

Istat presents data on Italy’s foreign trade as well as unit value and volume indices (base year 2010=100) referring to March 2013. The results of the flash estimates on extra-EU trade for March 2013 have been disseminated on April 24nd.

  • In March 2013 seasonally-adjusted data, compared to February 2013, showed an increase of 1.2% for exports and 0.2% for imports. The increase, for exports, was of 0.4% for EU countries and 2.0% for non EU countries. As regards imports the rise was recorded for EU (+2.4%) while non EU markets decrease by -2.4%. Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data, in comparison with the previous three months, showed a fall of 0.4% for outgoing flows and a drop of 1.7% for incoming flows.
  • In March 2013, compared with the same month of the previous year, trade fell by 6.0% for exports (-9.9% for EU area and -1.3% for non EU countries) and decreased by 10.6% for imports (-6.9% for EU and -15.0% for non EU countries). The trade balance amounted to 3.2 billion Euro (0.6 billion Euro for EU area and 2.6 billion Euro for non EU countries).
