Industrial production

The index measures the monthly evolution of the volume of industrial production (excluding construction). Since January 2009 the indices have been calculated with reference to the base year 2005 using the new Ateco 2007 classification (Italian edition of Nace Rev. 2).

In December 2012 the industrial production index seasonally adjusted increased by 0.4% compared with the previous month. The percentage change of the average of the last three months with respect to the previous three months was -2.2%.

The calendar adjusted industrial production index decreased by 6.6% compared with December 2011 (calendar working days in December 2012 being 19 versus 20 in December 2011); in the average of 2012 the percentage change was -6.7 compared with the average of the previous year.

The unadjusted index of industrial production decreased by 9.3% compared with December 2011.
