Employment and unemployment

Istat estimates that 22.9 million persons were employed in the IV quarter 2010, up 0.1% (+14 thousands) from IV quarter 2009. Employment rate decreased to 57% from 57.1% IV quarter 2009. Unemployed went up to 2.2 million people (+35 thousands). Unemployed rate was 8.7% from 8.6% IV quarter 2009. Inactivity rate was stable to 37.5%.
