Retail trade - August 2026

In August 2026, seasonally adjusted retail sales increased by 0.3% in value and by 0.1% in volume compared with July 2026.

In the three months to August 2026, retail sales dropped by 0.3% in value and by 0.5% in volume compared with the previous three-month period.

On a year-on-year basis, retail sales in August 2026 rose by 0.5% in value, while falling by 1.0% in volume.

Compared with August 2025, the value of retail sales grew by 1.1% in large-scale distribution, while both small-scale retail and non-store sales declined by 0.7%. Online sales rose by 5.4% in value over the same period.

Among non-food products, year-on-year trends varied across categories. The largest increase was recorded for Computers and telecommunications equipment (+6.7%), while the sharpest decline was observed in Shoes, leather goods and travel items (-4.1%).
