Building permits indicators - Q1 2026

In residential buildings, the number of dwellings decreased (-9.2%) in the first quarter 2026 when compared with the previous quarter, useful floor area decreased (-5.5%) too.

Non-residential buildings, instead, increased by 2.6% in the first quarter 2026 (quarter on previous quarter).

The number of dwellings in new buildings decreased by 0.5% in the first quarter 2026 with respect to the same quarter a year earlier.

In comparison with the same quarter a year ago, the useful floor area was up 4.4%.

Non-residential area increased by 12.5% in the first quarter 2026, compared with the same quarter a year ago, reversing the previous trend.
