Retail trade - May 2026
In May 2026, seasonally adjusted retail sales increased by 0.2% in value and by 0.1% in volume compared with April 2026.
In the three months to May 2026, retail sales rose by 1.2% in value and by 0.5% in volume compared with the previous three-month period.
On a year-on-year basis, retail sales in May 2026 increased by 2.2% in value and rose by 0.4% in volume.
Compared with May 2025, the value of retail sales grew by 2.7% in large-scale distribution and by 0.9% in small-scale retail, while non-store sales declined by 2.1%. Online sales rose by 11.9% in value over the same period.
Among non-food products, year-on-year trends were positive across all categories, with the exception of Durable and non-durable household items (-0.2%). The largest increase was observed in Electrical household appliances and audio-video equipment (+4.9%).
