Consumer prices - June 2026

According to preliminary estimates, in June 2026 the Italian consumer price index for the whole nation (NIC) was null compared with the previous month and +3.0% on annual basis (down from +3.2% in the previous month).
The slight slowdown in inflation reflects the price dynamics of Unprocessed food (from +5.5% to +4.5%), of Services related to recreation, including repair and personal care (from +3.0% to +2.7%), and Services related to transport (from +1.7% to +1.1%). By contrast, prices for Energy products accelerated, both Regulated energy products (from +5.6% to +9.3%) and Non-regulated energy products (from +12.5% to +12.9%).
As for Goods, the year on year growth rate was +3.4%, stable respect to the previous mounth, and for Services the annual rate of change was +2.6% (down from +2.8%). As a consequence, the inflationary gap between Services and Goods was -0.8 percentage points (from -0.6 p.p.).
The zero increase on monthly basis was mainly due to the prices of Unprocessed food (-1.4%) and of Non-regulated energy products (-0.3%); on the othe hand, prices of Services related to recreation, including repair and personal care (+0.6%), of Services related to transport (+0.5%) and of Regulated energy products (+0.3%) increased.
In June 2026, according to preliminary estimates, the Italian harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) recorded a month-on-month change of +0.1% and a year-on-year increase of +3.1% (from +3.2% in the previous month).
