Preliminary estimate of GDP and employment - year 2025
GDP and employment in the South and Islands grow faster than in the Centre-North
In 2025, Gross domestic product showed a moderately positive and broadly homogeneous trend across the country’s macro-regions. GDP growth in volume terms amounted to 0.5% in the North-West, North-East and Centre, while the South and Islands recorded a slightly higher increase (+0.6%).
From a sectoral perspective, the most significant increases in gross value added were observed in Construction in the North-West (+4.1%) and the Centre (+4.0%), and in Trade in the North-East (+2.7).
The South and Islands made the largest contribution to national growth, with the number of employed persons increasing by 1.5%, followed by the Centre (+1.1%). More moderate increases in the number of persons employed were recorded in the northern regions (North-West +0.9% and North-East +0.8%).
