The Conference, titled “More importance to data: a value for the country”, is an opportunity for data producers and users, civil society and institutions to confront on important issues such as:
- strengthening the principles of the European statistics in support of national and international policies;
- evolution of the National Statistical System in the European regulatory framework;
- modernization of production and dissemination processes of statistical information
The Conference also represents the occasion to boost the relevance of official statistics in a highly dynamic global context.
Parallel sessions are planned to address issues of great importance for the present and future of official statistics, such as quality certification of official statistics, new sources and actions in response to new and emerging phenomena; integration of data sources; new predictive and assessment models of policies; the continuous Census. They are divided into four main categories: Scenarios and perspectives; Emerging issues; Innovation and experimentation; New sources and demands.
To celebrate Istat’s 90 years, the Conference hosts a series of initiatives and celebratory-scientific events. A space is dedicated to the Multimedia historical exhibition (Mostra storica multimediale), which through pictures, vintage movies and other documentary material tells the Institute’s history and the transformations of the country.
As evidence of the strong dynamism and versatility of the statistical debate in various spheres, the following additional spaces were planned: a Comparison Space (Spazio Confronti) is dedicated to the sharing of experiences and best practices among the actors of the National Statistical System; a Modernization Workroom (Officina Modernizzazione) is reserved for updates and insights on the modernization project undertaken by Istat; a Numeracy Lab (Laboratorio Numeracy) for the presentation of ideas, projects and experiences to promote statistical literacy.
As usual, the Conference hosts the Salon of statistical information (Salone dell’informazione statistica) dedicated to key representatives of local administrations and the Poster Section (Sezione Poster) dedicated to the presentation and sharing of research experiences.
